Rhetorical Chinese Translation of Proper Names of Terms in Manifesto of the Communist Party and Its Chinese Characteristics: A Multi-version Diachronic Study Based on CHEN Wangdao’s Translation

Abstract:

The rhetorical Chinese translation of the proper names of the terms in the Manifesto of the Communist Party deserves our attention. A diachronic study of the multi versions based on CHEN Wangdao’s translation is helpful to the in-depth and detailed research of the Marxist classic texts. The proper names of the terms in the Manifesto of the Communist Party have their own nature of discourse resources. The diachronic translation of the proper names of terms in the Manifesto of the Communist Party is a rhetorical innovation with certain originality and epochal features. Cognitive semantic is the basic motivation for the rhetorical Chinese translation of the proper names of the terms. The process of Chinese translation of the proper names of terms in the Manifesto of the Communist Party into Chinese is also a process of forming and highlighting Chinese characteristics.
