Abstract: Some Chinese characters, such as those of carbohydrate, protein and steroid, have been used in academic terms, but now are prohibited. These characters not only possess special academic meaning, but also are very simple and understandable. Moreover, they are still retained in XINHUA ZIDIAN. The author suggests that these Chinese characters should be resumed in academic terms.
Key words: carbohydrate, protein, steroid
