Abstract: Based on the research of the translated names of chemical engineering terms, we analyze the current situation of the differences of the scientific terms between mainland China and Taiwan, and causes for that. We also discussthe practical strategies and solutions on translation and normalization of chemical engineering terms from the perspective of semantics, and present the ideas and ways to coordinate and standardize the translated names for scientific terms. We think it is important to highlight the significance of the unanimous translated names in both sides of Taiwan Straits, so as to enhance the cohesion of Chinese nations, extend the influence of Chinese language and strive for discourse power of Chinese language in the international society.
