Abstract:

The 26th meeting of the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM) approved the revision of the international system of units (SI). The definitions of all the units of the revised SI have been linked to constants of nature, which no longer rely on any physical artifacts and guarantee their stability and universality. This paper introduces the evolution of and the content of the redefined SI.

Key words: measurement, international system of Units (SI), base unit, fundamental constant, constant of nature, redefinition
