Meaning and Translation of Translanguaging

Abstract

Abstract:

As a new field in western multilingual education research, translanguaging is gaining more and more attention in China and yet generates various understanding and translations from different scholars. To clarify its connotation, this paper first traces the origin of this word, then compares it with relevant terms such as bilingual education, code-switching and translation, and finally proposes an appropriate translation of the term translanguaging.
