Names of traditional Chinese medicine belong to medical terminology. Those who use them involve both medical workers and common people. So names of traditional Chinese medicine should have special property and readability as well. Based on the name list of 906 kinds of Chinese medicine, the author analyzed the structure types of Chinese medicine names, and took the efficacy words in the names as a case analysis. Finally, the author pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of these drug names, and suggested how to standardize these names.

Founding military terminology science is an initiative work to promote military theory innovation and perfect military science system in the new stage and new era. The system of military terminology science should include the study of history, basic theory, compilation, management and application of military terminology. We should promote the creation of the discipline through various measures, such as formulating the construction plan, cultivating talented personnel, organizing academic activities and compiling academic works.

Domain clustering of term definition is a relatively new research topic. In this research, we took bottom-up hierarchical clustering method for semantic similarity calculation based on HowNet, and selected cluster-specific characteristics based on words with different contribution to clustering and stop-used words constructing domain cluster. Our results realized the domain cluster of term definition, and achieved a desired experimental result.

Starting from the definition of the Chinese term “Cheng shi bing”, the author discusses the various translations of this expression and then points out the inadequacies in them. Finally, the author offers his own translation of “Cheng shi bing” based on meticulous investigation.

Terminology constitutes a significant part in the development of a discipline. This paper probes into the origin of expertise and some related terms of cognitive psychology, analyzes the inadequacy in their existing Chinese translations, and thus argues for four principles for translating foreign terms into Chinese, i.e., accuracy, technicality, readability and consistency. On this basis, it goes on to elaborate on the proper Chinese translations of “expertise” and related terms in order to explore the meaning of these four principles as well as their interconnections.

In this paper, the author studies the translation principles of Russian military terms and discusses some difficulties involved in it, such as polysemy terms and synonym terms, literal translation and free translation, etc. Moreover, some tips on the Chinese translation of Russian military terms are summarized in this paper.

This paper reviews the growing, development of the Solid Earth Geophysics together with its branch terms. Especially, new branches in this field have frequently been emerging since 1970s, resulting in the creation rate of new scientific terms heavily exceeds their propagation rate. It is thought that keeping the branch development in mind, renewing the division terms and introducing new scientific term to public in time are also important for knowledge creation and generalization.

This paper traces back to the origin of “mai” and “jing luo”, discusses their available translations on the basis of the data from “Chinese-English Bilingual Corpus of Chinese Medical Classics”, comments on different English translations of “jing mai”. Meridian, the standardized translation of “jing mai”, approved by WHO, indicates a two-dimensional grid and therefore is contradictory to jing-mais function of moving qi and blood; channel, a popular translation of “jing mai” in the West, is a polysemy word and is not clear and definite. The authors think that “vessel” can refer to a three-dimensional tube of the human being and therefore is a strict and proper translation for “jing mai”, and is worthy to be popularized in the future.

Mr. Wüster is the first person who paid much attention to the Words of this World from the terminological viewpoint. Based on the description of "the Words of this World" made by Mr. Eugen Wüster, this article introduces the formation and development of the philosophy and the terminology Vienna School, and discusses the effect of "the Words of this World" on the general terminology theory of Vienna School .

Since E. Wüster put forward the "TGT" theory in 1930s, it has been considered as the most authoritative and unshakeable theory in the terminological study. However, there are more and more queries on TGT in recent years, and the representative is the "TCT" theory. TCT was raised e by Dr. Cabré, the authority in Spanish terminological study. Dr. Cabré put forward a series of queries and critiques to TGT and brought about a great deal of attentions from terminological researchers. To strengthen our knowledge on TCT and the queries, this paper illustrates those key points concerning the queries and critiques of "TCT" to "TGT".

How to sinologiz all the English abbreviations (also known as lettered words), esp. the widely-accepted ones in Chinese has drawn more attention for a long time. From the linguistic point of view, replacing abbreviations with full phrases in Chinese language is unacceptable on many occasions, but it is necessary to use the Chinese abbreviation (i.e. shortened form) to translate its English counterparts. We presents some specific methods and principles that have been used by translators in sinologizing English abbreviations, in the hope that this research can inspire relevant departments in their efforts to keep Chinese language clean.

There is a close connection between terminology translation and terminology standardization and they influence each other. This paper discusses at first how to develop the positive impact of terminology translation on the terminology standardization from the perspective of terminology translation, and then how to promote the standardized terminology translation from the perspective of terminology construction. The paper also points out that translators should master and use the knowledge of terminology well in order to achieve the standardization and specification of terminology translation, and thus have a positive impact on terminology standardization. Meanwhile, terminology standardization should expand its horizons and fields within the broad context of terminology construction.

Based on cognitive science and prototype theory, the research of translation terminology from socio-cognitive perspective refers to the features of translation studies, follows pragmatic and communicative functions, and emphasizes the ambiguity, diachronic and dynamic characteristics of term translation. So, in the process of translating electrical and mechanical terms, translators should adopt proper strategies according to its specific aim of translating and follow the general norms of EST translation.

Based on profoundly analyzing the definition of renewable energy, carefully studying the meaning of regeneration in "Ci Hai" and the network, we think that the "regenerate" have not the meaning of the "renew" in Chinese. It is not proper to call those energies (such as solar, hydro, wind, biomass, ocean energy and geothermal energy) as regeneration energy in Chinese. For more scientific and more convenient to international exchange, we should call those energies as renewable energy instead of regeneration energy in Chinese.

The important principle lies in deep understanding of history, social backgrounds, and respect of cultural differences. Discrimination is necessary when polysemous words translated into different domains.

Concept is the basic principle to name terms. This paper focuses on the following aspects: meaning of concept, objective of naming, the relationship between concept and naming, absolute and relative characteristics fot single-defined concepts.
