Abstract: In recent years, lettered words have been widely used in contemporary Chinese media and publications. Based on the affirmation that standard English pronunciation should be established as a criterion for pronouncing the lettered words in contemporary Chinese, this paper analyzes the vowels, consonants and syllabic constructions of common lettered words.
