Abstract: Due to historical reason, different methods are used in translating some names of foreign musicians into Chinese in both Sides of the Taiwan Straits. Therefore, the readers can't find all of the books they want when they use the retrieval system of library. Based on the analysis of the translated names of foreign musicians, we discussed the differences on translation of foreign musician names across the Taiwan Strait, and proposed solutions to harmonize different translated names, such as adding English name of foreign musicians in a cataloging system. Our purpose is to make readers find books by the same musician when they use the retrieval system of library.
