Abstract:

The word “content” is a widely used term in many disciplines in geosciences, including those indicating the area fraction in lithological slice, pollen percentage, and also in diagrams. However, it should be noted that this is an informal measure, with different meaning in various fields. Here we review the expression of this informal measure in geological papers, and proposed the specific usage in particular disciplines.
