Abstract:

This paper analyzes the synonymous phenomenon widely existing in medical terms using descriptive methods to understand the source and use of synonymous medical terms. The paper also examines the reasons for this phenomenon which is inconsistent with the requirement of univocal characteristic in terms. The data are from Medical Terms published by China National Committee for Terms in Sciences and Technologies.
