Inquiry into the Title Translation of The Wealth of Nations

Abstract

Abstract:

Adam Smith’s The Wealth of Nations has been translated into Chinese for more than 100 years. Meanwhile, different title translations have aroused various disputes over “guojia caifu”and “guomin caifu”. Through a detailed inquiry into Adam Smith’s economic thoughts, we think that the translation “guojia caifu”would be more precise.
