Abstract: Based on the English-Chinese translation of plasma from the perspectives of signifier & signified and the intertextuality of linguistic signs, the authors suggest that the conveyance of original signified should be the priority. Considering the transference of the original signifier, we propose that the potential of derivation and acceptability of the after-translated terms in the target language should be taken into consideration. Moreover, the intertextuality of linguistic signs whose negative effects should be avoided.
