Abstract: Practice on scientific neologism work of CNCTST has three patterns: routine work among subcommittees, artificial work under fixed subcommittee, combination practice of automatic extraction and artificial work. Based on the experimental practice of the third pattern, the author suggests that the priorities of standards for evaluating scientific neologism should be the following order: value of a time point, normative value, value of a period. This order means that the primary work is selection among the new emerging terms after investigation and study; then examine the chaotic terms among them in priority, especially those already come into daily life; and pay much attention to the most valuable terms in a relatively long period.
Key words: scientific neologism, normalization, automatic extraction
