Abstract:

Academic language is the cornerstone of a good academic paper. Academic language, especially scientific terms, has a common feature: precise in scientific expression, professional and accurate in word use, and without ambiguity. For example, in English medical papers on joint replacement, “survival” was often used to describe the normal use of joint prostheses “in vivo”, but there was not a corresponding Chinese term. In order to explore suitable Chinese terms for describing the normal use of joint prostheses “in vivo”, we studied the meaning of the normal use of joint prostheses, the original meaning of survival in English and its Chinese translations, and analyzed the corresponding Chinese terms of survival in different medical disciplines in order to help editors to choose among them.
