Abstract: “xinghe”and “yihe” are important Chinese terms in the comparative study of the Chinese and English languages, but opinions are still divided on corresponding English versions. Some scholars regard hypotaxis and parataxis as their corresponding English terms, while some others take morph tactic and semo tactic as their English terms. Based on a close study and analysis of relevant literature, the author suggests that morph tactic and semo tactic are the appropriate English versions for the Chinese terms of “xinghe” and “yihe”.
