English Translation of “baohu” in the Intangible Cultural Heritage Research: Analysis Based on Concept Hierarchical Relation

Abstract

Abstract:

“baohu”, a term in the intangible cultural heritage research, has long been randomly translated into English andthe systematic requirement of the term concept is not strictly observed. Inappropriatelyintroduced term may give rise to obstacles to term CE translation, and “baohu” is a good case in point. “safeguarding”and“protection”should be viewed as hypernym and hyponym respectively, and such classification also contributes to the correctness of the term CE translation of “baohu”.
