Abstract:

Energy text is of EST (English for science and technology) genre, involving the introduction to various forms of energies, developing technology, current features and future trends. There are many technical terms in energy text. Understanding and translating technical terms is the key to genuinely represent the meaning of source text. Technical terms can be divided into three types including exclusive technical terms, new-created technical terms and normal words with technical meaning. Based on the conceptions and features of these three types, this article elaborates the significance of parallel text in the translation of technical terms.
