Investigation on Common Words to Be Covered in Term Dictionary: From “leizi” in Chengzhongmengxuetang Zike Tushuo

Abstract:

By examining the meteorological & non-meteorological characters under the radical “yu”(雨) in Volume 1 of the famous textbook—Chengzhong Mengxuetang Zike Tushuo(《澄衷蒙学堂字课图说》), which was used between the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, we point out that some common words qualified modern terminology, and there exists regular differentiation in the case of forming the modern terminology due to different word classes.
