Exploration on Translation of “xintong” Recorded in Huangdi Neijing

Abstract:

Based on the English translation principles of terminologies of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), we compare different kinds of English translation of “heart pain” recorded in Huangdi Neijing Suwen(《黄帝内经·素问》Plain Questions·Inner Canon of the Yellow Emperor). Through document research, this article analyzes translation of “heart pain” from commonly-used dictionaries of TCM terminologies and four kinds of translation versions for Suwen(《素问》Plain Questions). At present, major progress has been made in standardization of TCM terminologies, but work in translation for TCM classics still needs to be improved. We hope our research have positive influence on foreign exchanges of traditional Chinese medicine.
