Abstract: In order to avoid confusion of chucang (hoarding), zhucang (storage) and baocang (preservation) used in scientific books and journals, the author analyzed the definition of the three terms in dictionary, made statistics of their use conditions in scientific books and journals, investigated whether the three terms were sci-tech terms, and provided the proper uses of the three terms. The author also suggested that the three terms, chucang, zhucang and baocang should be added to the standard terms of aquatic product preservation and processing, agricultural product processing, and food science and technology.

Key words: chucang, zhucang, baocang
