Abstract:

Exegesis and Exegetics cannot be confused.The former is a practical process based on the theory and methods of Exegetics,while the latter is a systematic discipline that studies exegesis.In the terminology of Exegetics,the method of exegesis,which refers to the way in which exegesis is expressed,is distinguished functionally and includes three methods:“Huxun”(互训),“Yijie”(义界),and “Tuiyin”(推因).The form of exegesis is the external form of the expression of exegesis,which is distinguished purely from form and includes two categories:“Zhixun”(直训) and “Jieshuo”(界说).The method of exegesis is the approach and means used to solve exegesis problems,which includes the methods of “Yixingsuoyi”(以形索义),“Yinshengqiuyi”(因声求义),and “Bijiaohuzheng”(比较互证).Finally,Exegetics has its own disciplinary status and should not be confused with Lexicology,Semantics,Hermeneutics.
