Abstract:
It has consistently been a fundamental policy and a significant component of China’s language endeavors to establish a universal sign language applicable nationwide based on the categorization and study of local sign languages. As a fusion outcome of sign language skills and legal culture, legal sign language is not only a linguistic tool for deaf individuals to convey legal information but also an essential function of legal knowledge education for them. Commencing from the inherent attributes of legal sign language, exploring the normative path and application model of legal sign language is not only the internal requisition of disciplinary sign language research in the new era but also the objective demand for safeguarding the basic public legal service rights and interests of the deaf community.
Key words: legal sign language, public legal services, normative standards, language application
