Abstract: Those energies, such as solar, hydro, wind, biomass, ocean energy and geothermal energy, are called regeneration energy in Chinese, while in English they are named renewable energy. Based on profoundly analyzing the definition of renewable energy, carefully studying the meaning of regeneration in "Ci Hai" and the network, we think that the "regenerate" have not the meaning of the "renew" in Chinese. It is not proper to call those energies (such as solar, hydro, wind, biomass, ocean energy and geothermal energy) as regeneration energy in Chinese. For more scientific and more convenient to international exchange, we should call those energies as renewable energy instead of regeneration energy in Chinese.

Key words: regeneration energy, regenerate, renewable energy, naming
