Abstract:

Natural compounds are the source of new drugs. However, names of many natural compounds are confusing, and it is necessary to carry out standardization for the purpose of facilitating the dissemination of information. This paper puts forward principles of standardization for naming compound and explains some names based on principles of naming. Based on tracing the naming source, the author also discusses some of natural compounds’ names with difficult in naming. According to the degree of standardization, natural compound names can be divided into three categories: name (specification), different name (not standard), false name (prohibited to use, and should be marked “false” after the name of the word in the purpose to prevent baseless assertion).
