Abstract:

This article, from the perspective of knowledge processing, sorts out the concept of “de”(德) in the Huangdi Neijing, compares and analyzes the translation of “de”in three English versions by Paul Ulrich Unschuld,Li Zhaoguo and Yang Mingshan, and explores the knowledge selection and processing in the original text and in the cross-cultural communication. We think that the translator’s cognition and social and cultural background are the main factors causing the differences in the knowledge conveyed in different versions. Moreover, due to language and writing, target readers and other factors, different versions also present different translation styles and characteristics.
