Abstract:

In the long history of cross-cultural communication, the translation of Buddhist scriptures has played a pivotal role, serving not merely as a linguistic transformation but also as a transmission and adaptation of cultural and philosophical ideas.Skopos theory, which emphasizes that translation should prioritize the function of the target text and the context of the receiving culture, has proven particularly valuable in this domain. This study examines how Skopos theory guides Buddhist scripture translation practices, and analyzes how translators navigate the cultural specificities, philosophical depth, and linguistic styles of source texts to maximize cross-cultural communicative efficacy.
