Lack of Equivalent English-Chinese LegalWords and Subjectivity of Translators

Abstract: The translation of legal terms has always been the emphasis and one of the difficulties in legal translation. Influenced by the languages and legal cultures of different nations and districts, different legal systems have their special systems of terminology. And the terminological incongruency between different legal systems causes the lack of equivalent legal words, which becomes one of the biggest obstacles and causes a lot of problems in legal terminology translation. To solve these problems, translators are supposed to work as decision makers and bring their subjectivity and creativity into full play in the translation practice. Meanwhile, the high quality of translators is also required.
