Abstract:

From the perspective of terminology, this paper makes a study of the translation methods of philosophical terms in History of Scientific Thought. We found that the translation methods of philosophical terms have diversity, and there are nine and seven major translation methods in transliteration and free translation. We also found that the transliteration translation method is valued by Joseph Needham. Respecting Chinese culture and the purpose of serving the development of scientific thoughts are Joseph Needham’s main consideration.
