Abstract: habitus is one of the core concepts raised by Pierre Bourdieu,an acclaimed French sociologist whose works cover a wide range of disciplines.It has led to various translations when his theories were introduced into China.To account for such differences,the paper first traces the origin of this word in western culture,then consults Wiki and draws from professional voices.Finally it calls for a standard and consistent translation of habitus,especially when using it to develop the theories for Translation Study.
