Abstract: In the last two decades, great development of dendrimer has been achieved widely in the world due to the unique excellent properties determined by the unique perfect structures. However, the Chinese names for the dendrimer are quite disordered, and there are at least 36 kinds of different names for dendrimer in the Mainland of China, which will seriously retard the intercommunication and advancement of the new cross-boundary dendrimer science that is derivatized from organic chemistry, polymer science, materials science, etc. Therefore it is very urgent to standardize and unify the names of dendrimer. On the basis of combinational consideration of the feasibility and practicability factors of a term for dendrimer with its future development in China, it is suggested that the Chinese name “shuzhuangwu(树状物)” be chosen as the only Chinese term for dendrimer.
