Abstract:

This paper elaborates the double natures of defense and offense in terminology. The purpose is to know the defensive and offensive nature of the term and to gain a deep insight into the terminological properties by the metaphor of words as weapons. Based on analyzing term use, we found that the examination of term use can test the defense and offense natures as well as the features of the term. We think that the investigation of the issues involving the natures of term can enrich the theory of terminology.
