Discussions on Chinese Expressions of English Term IWRM

Abstract

Abstract:

In recent years, IWRM has become an important term with its pervasive adoption by international society. However, its Chinese expression is usually translated as “水资源综合管理 ”and other similar forms, which are not highly accorded with its original meanings of English. In this paper, confusions and problems about different Chinese translations of IWRM were analyzed,and several definitions of IWRM in English by international organizations were discussed. Finally, a new Chinese translation of IWRM which is identical with its English intrinsic meanings was proposed.
