Abstract:

Taking termonline as the main verification platform and the certified lexicons issued by the CNCTST as reference corpus, we selected and analyzed a number of interdisciplinary terms from aeronautical and nautical related fields in terms of semantic framework and interpretation space. Our results show that: (1) there are a large number of synonymous, polysemous terms in various forms in the field of aeronautical and nautical studies; (2) the semantic representation of such terms depends on a particular simultaneous relationship and is subject to the specification of the corresponding conceptual elements. On the one hand, within the specific semantic framework, the semantic representations of these terms conform to the principle of mono-semy or unambiguity; on the other hand, under interdisciplinary circumstances, these terms take on apparent interdisciplinary features, and their semantic representations could be invested with polysemous interpretation space.

Key words: termonline, aeronautical terms, nautical terms, poly-semantic representation
