Abstract:

Abstract: The term “nowcasting” originated in the field of meteorology, and now there are more and more researches and applications in the field of economics. However, according to the data of China National Knowledge Network (CNKI), there are at least 13 Chinese translations of nowcasting in economic literature, and another one is un-translated, which seriously violates the principle of “monumonality” in the Naming Principle of Scientific and Technological terms, and is not conducive to relevant literature search, academic exchanges, research development and application promotion. This paper mainly analyzes and compares various Chinese translations of nowcasting in existing economic literature based on materials and data from CNKI and IDEAS, and in accordance with the principle of “Convention”, using generality and circulation as quantitative indicators. It turns out that “现时预测” is the best translation of nowcasting in economics. This paper tries to make some contributions to the standardization and unification of the Chinese translation of nowcasting.
