Abstract:

As a form of ESP, Nautical English lexicon has the unique meanings. Different from meanings in general English, the animal lexicon is given professional meanings in Nautical English. Based on a large number of the animal lexicons in the nautical field, this paper summarizes the lexical features, analyzes the functions and discusses the translation strategies of the animal lexicons.
