Abstract:

Within the narratives of aviation occurrences,there is often a presence of terms,which sways public understanding of aviation safety in a certain degree.This study compiles rumors related to some typical aviation occurrences,extracts the terms from these rumors,analyzes the motivation behind rumor use and reveals features of such terms.Our findings suggest that the motivations for using terms in aviation occurrence rumor narratives include catering to narrative needs,resorting to professionalism to obscure uncertainty,and raising the verification threshold via complexity.Furthermore,common features within rumor narratives include misuse of terms,fabrication,and limited number.Finally,the study proposes new approaches for curbing rumors related to aviation occurrences from the perspective of terminology.
