Abstract: New terms created by foreign armed forces are quite common in military translation. Translators should base on the specific context of these terms to identify their exact meaning, and abide by the standards of term translation in a flexible manner to strike a balance between accuracy, readability and transparency. This article illustrates the balance based on five cases of new terms.
