Abstract: “Atomic weight” that is age-old and popular term is encountered concussion from “relative atomic mass”. In the domestic academe “atomic weight” has been changed to “relative atomic mass”. The modifier “relative” in “relative atomic mass” can not alter the essence of “atomic weight”. “Atomic weight” and “relative atomic mass” are two different scientific terms for characterizing two things having different speciality and moreover affiliation each other and can not be confused. It is not advisable and may bring an infinitude trouble into scientific kingdom to replace “atomic weight” by “relative atomic mass” that was used to characterize another thing. It is best choice to reserve the term “atomic weight” for characterizing defined speciality at this time.
