On the English Translations of TCM Term “zang-fu”

Abstract: In the past decades there have been various translations for the term “zang-fu”, including literal translation, liberal translation, transliteration, borrowing, etc. Through detailed comparisons of different translations collected from dictionaries and other publications, and in the light of the actual TCM practice in the United States, we suggest that transliteration, or transliteration plus borrowing is the most suitable approach for translating this kind terms.
