Abstract:

In January 2012, the Interdepartmental Joint Meeting on Standardization of Foreign Language and Chinese Translation established, to coordinating the proper nouns translation works translating from foreign languages to Chinese. Basing on the Chinese translation of foreign language words recommended by the Expert Committee of the Interdepartmental Joint Meeting, this article elaborates that the work of foreign language Chinese translation norms involves multiple disciplines and industries, and spans various social linguistic life levels. In terms of research scope, formulation methods, and principles of translation selection, efforts are made to balance professionalism and sociality, playing a role in eliminating discourse barriers and ensuring the language information rights of the masses. It is an indispensable part of the construction and transmission of Chinese discourse.
