The discussion on standardizing the glyphs of the Chinese characters “鵖” and “ ” within international encoding standards will impact the Chinese nomenclature and application of Oenanthe and Saxicola genera in the field of zoology.Currently,there is a lack of unified standards for the Chinese naming of species within these genera,leading to inconsistent character usage in literature and databases.This inconsistency hampers cross-referencing and joint retrieval of information,adversely affecting scientific research and public communication.Therefore,it is imperative to establish standardized Chinese nomenclature for species within this genus and expedite the enhancement of their Chinese character encoding processes.
