Abstract: Transliteration is one of the commonly-used techniques in term translating, and is mainly used in 4 categories of terms: 1) name of new materials and chemicals, 2) newly-discovered natural phenomenon or substance, 3) units of measurement and 4) the acronym-form terms. Innovation models of transliteration can be classified as seven kinds: 1) zero-translation, 2) pure transliteration, 3) homophonic translation, 4) combination of transliteration and semantic translation, 5) pictographic translation, 6) omission transliteration, and 7) coinage of new characters.
