Abstract:

In early 2010s, Croatian government launched the “Croatian Scientific Terminology” project in order to realize the dream of standardizing or systematizing Croatian terminologies in different scientific disciplines. The marvellous fruit is the successful building of its national Termbank (STRUNA) based on the traditional terminology principles. However, some scholars from the Institute for Anthropological Research of Croatia found out some realistic facts clashing with the general ISO terminology standardization principles resting on the traditional Terminology. With the reference of Michel Foucault’s ideas about the discourse,as well as with the respect for the specific characteristics of the Anthropology (even of all fields in Social Sciences and Humanities),these scholars successfully finished their tasks for systematizing the Croatian anthropology terminologies. On the basis of their practical experiences of this work, they provide very valuable suggestions for the terminological work in Social Sciences and Humanities worldwide.

Key words: anthropological terms, metaphorization, specificity, complex layered and dynamic characteristics
