摘要：

中医术语英译标准化是中医药文化走出去的基础,李照国、朱建平等学者就中医术语标准化已经做出了相当努力,但从目前的一些相关译作来看,很多译者“各自为政”,使得某些中医术语英译词“百花齐放”,在某种程度上阻碍了中医术语的英译标准化进程。文章通过文献分析法,对“信达雅”的翻译原则进行了符合时代的内涵阐释,并结合中医翻译的相关文章,将该原则作为翻译标准评价中医术语英译词质量的方式,就中医术语“痰饮”“痰”“饮”英译名的合理性进行了分析,旨在寻求其贴切译法,并以此为例尝试归纳和总结中医术语实现信达雅普遍规律性的方式。

Abstract:

English versions of Chinese medicine terms should be standardized for Chinese medicine culture’s better transmission, into which scholars such as LI Zhaoguo and ZHU Jianping have put efforts. However, some translators still use words at will in English medicine translation. As a result, some Chinese medicine terms have improper English versions as “Hundred Flowers”, which is not helpful for the standardization in a way. By using literature analysis, we describe the connotation of the translation principle “faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance”, and take this principle as the criteria for evaluating English versions of terminology based on related articles. Taking “tanyin”“tan”“yin” as examples and analyzing their English versions to find out corresponding versions, we summarized the pattern for selecting appropriate English versions of Chinese medicine terms.
