不能用“相对原子质量”替代“原子量”

摘要: “原子量”(atomic weight)这一广为大众熟知的术语却遭到“相对原子质量”(relative atomic mass)的冲击,国内已将“原子量”改名为“相对原子质量”。“相对原子质量”中的修饰用语“相对”二字不能改变“原子质量”的本质,而“原子量”与“原子质量”是表征两个具有不同特征而又相互联系事物的科技术语,不能混淆。将“原子量”改名为已用来表征另一事物的名词“相对原子质量”,这是不可取的,它会给科学界带来无穷后患。保留“原子量”这一术语是目前用来表征其所定义特征的最佳选择。

Abstract: “Atomic weight” that is age-old and popular term is encountered concussion from “relative atomic mass”. In the domestic academe “atomic weight” has been changed to “relative atomic mass”. The modifier “relative” in “relative atomic mass” can not alter the essence of “atomic weight”. “Atomic weight” and “relative atomic mass” are two different scientific terms for characterizing two things having different speciality and moreover affiliation each other and can not be confused. It is not advisable and may bring an infinitude trouble into scientific kingdom to replace “atomic weight” by “relative atomic mass” that was used to characterize another thing. It is best choice to reserve the term “atomic weight” for characterizing defined speciality at this time.
