摘要：

1897年刊载于《知新报》的《详考飞机》是中国航空知识翻译肇始时期的重要译作,能够揭示早期航空知识翻译的一些重要特征。由于翻译底本的缺失,当前学界不仅对文章中的知识误译没有觉察,更对其知识翻译特征缺少考察。作者基于对《详考飞机》中关键人物进行考证,发现其翻译底本为刊载于《工艺世界报》(The Mechanical World)的Aviation一文。通过对比原文和译文,纠正了由误译所导致的史料误读,论证了文中知识翻译的术语弱化特征,提出了基于“术语弱化—术语强化”连续统的知识翻译描写模型。

Abstract:

Xiang Kao Feiji, published on Zhixinbao in 1897, is one of the earliest translations introducing aviation knowledge to China. It embodies some significant features of the early translation of aviation knowledge. Without a source text, there are few studies on knowledge mistranslation and knowledge translation features in the text. In our research on the key figure Octave Chanute, we found that the text is translated from Aviation, published on The Mechanical World. Through a comparative analysis with its source, we corrected a misconception on aviation history caused by mistranslation, expounded on the feature of terminological attenuation in aviation knowledge translation, and proposed a knowledge translation descriptive model of “terminological attenuation—terminological intensification” continuum.
