Study on the Terminology of Common Names for Deep-Sky Objects

摘要:

深空天体俗名是一类天文学名词。该研究旨在结合术语学视角,填补深空天体俗名术语研究的空缺,为深空天体俗名的名词审定工作提供思路和建议。文章基于Stellarium收录的1 363个深空天体俗名,采用数据统计、语言学分析、经典案例分析及问题探讨方法,系统研究其语言结构、命名规律及学界认可情况。研究结果表明,深空天体俗名在构词、音节、词义等方面具有显著规律性和多样性,经典命名范例体现出科技术语的习惯性、简明性、科学性、系统性和民族性等特性,同时研究也揭示了这些俗名命名中存在的主要问题及原因。研究显示出深空天体俗名审定工作的必要性,针对收选和审定工作提出了收词范围、定名方法和释义考据等方面的建议,并为其他俗名命名工作提供参考。

Abstract:

Common names for deep-sky objects are a type of astronomical term. This study aims to fill the gap in research on the terminology of common names for deep-sky objects from a terminological perspective, ultimately providing ideas and suggestions for the review and standardization of these names. Based on 1 363 common names for deep-sky objects recorded in Stellarium, we systematically studies their linguistic structure, naming patterns, and academic recognition through methods such as data statistics, linguistic analysis, classical case analysis, and problem discussion. Our results show that common names for deep-sky objects exhibit significant regularity and diversity in word formation, syllables, and word meaning. Classical naming examples reflect characteristics such as conventionality, conciseness, scientificity, systematicity, and nationality of scientific terms. Additionally, the study reveals some major issues and reasons in the naming of these common names. The research highlights the necessity of the review and standardization work for common names of deep-sky objects, offering suggestions on the scope of word collection, naming methods, and exegesis for the collection and review work, and providing references for other common naming work.
