Abstract:

The compilation and publication of Tibet-related white papers plays an important role in China’s communication with the world, so the standardization of the translation of proper nouns in those white papers needs to be addressed. With the application of the corpus method, this paper analyzes the present different methods of translation of these proper nouns, namely, identical translation, different translation, addition and deletion, transliteration and free translation. Based on such analysis, we propose some solutions to the proper noun translation, namely, establishment of a stipulated transcription system, examination and standardization of Tibet-related proper noun translation, and adoption of unified translation methods.
