Abstract: Manual of Different Scientific Terms in Mainland and Taiwan Region consists of 41 595 groups of terminologies, which are similar in their contents but different in their names. Based on discussing the differences in several aspects, we concluded that the differences of scientific terms in cross-strait is mainly reflected in the degree of borrowing foreign terms, different translation ways, different naming angles, different words for terms, different generalization degree of terms, etc. we proposed that the differences of scientific terms in the cross strait are few in necessity and more in contingency, most terminologies across the strait with same contents can be selected one according to their preference.
