Importance and Role of Terminology Management    ——Case Study of the Terminology Management Strategy from the Microsoft Company

摘要: 现今术语管理作为一个热门话题,对跨国公司的翻译质量起着重要的影响作用,成为跨国公司全球化与本土化战略的组成部分。以微软公司为个案来看跨国公司术语管理对术语翻译的影响,回答术语管理的三个问题并用术语翻译的实例来说明术语管理的意义与作用。

Abstract: As a hot topic, terminology management has great impact on the translation quality of the multinational companies and has become a component of these companies’ strategy for globalization and localization. This paper looks at the impact of terminology management in multinational companies on term translation from the case study of the Microsoft Company. By answering three questions of the terminology management, we illustrate the importance and the role of terminology management with the examples of the term translation.
